As opposed to many other things the cost of college degree has grown three times the rate of inflation since the late 1970s. You can tell that the American Dream is dead to them because of the struggle that is being out upon them. Although some blame others for their non-achievements, many people take full responsibility and blame themselves for not making it the way they had planned to. Individual economic success begins with self-seeking motives. That all ended with benefiting society- in order to create the American Dream (Herald, 1). Students and families put themselves into deeper situations by doing bigger things than they can actually handle. The blame cannot always be tossed upon other individuals. Many of these individuals are responsible for their own character and preparation (Jilson, 1). The economy has killed almost everyones views and goals in achieving the American Dream. Is it possible that the economy should be the blame of most Americans not reaching the goals that they desired in the beginning? In achieving the American Dream, people struggle with reaching goals because of student debt/loans, struggles within their own messed up economy, and also dealing with the fact that theyre not successful because it is their very own fault. Some may argue that the dream is alive because of the hard working citizens that are still out there. But in fact, with providing good evidence and support the dream has died.
